I will briefly describe the improvements to my '92 LT1 6 speed, base suspension:
- New top end
- CDC'd LT4 heads
- New CNC'd intake
- imitation K&N filter
- new cam
- roller rockers
- valves
- plugs
- wires
- timing system
- chip
- headers
- Tri-flow cat back
- Brembo 13" front cross-drilled with stainless steel lines
- coil-over shock conversion
- new sway bars front and rear (sorry, I don't know the sizes)
and, well that's about it. And yes, it was
expensive. Very. The car is now, quite honestly, scary! The engine
man had a chassis dynonometer; the car showed 240 at the rear wheels stock
(as expected - apparently you lose about 20% through the drive train, and
the car was rated at 300 HP) after all the work the car now shows 375 at
the wheels (about 460 at the flywheel, I guess). And it is still very
driveable and easy to control in city traffic (if not a bit loud). And of
course, I have a belt bar with five point harnesses for me and the lucky
passenger.
Quite frankly the car has too much power for me, and if there is someone
out there with more money than sense and wants a ZR-1 beater and (probably)
a Viper beater, then email me.
