I have two corvettes - 1st, a 85 which ran a bone stock 1/4 mile of 14.77.
I've had this car for 9 years now and now runs the 1/4 mile in 11.34 @119 with
the following modifications:
- John Lingenfelter 383 engine - 450 HP
- Lingenfelter 219/525 camshaft
- 1.6 ratio Competition Cams Magnum roller rocker arms (provides an effective lift of 560)
- Accel intake manifold
- Arizona Speed and Marine large tube runners
- Ported Plenum
- 52 mm throttle body (did not go faster w/ 58mm throttle body so kept it looking stock w/ the 52)
- Air foil modified to fit 52mm throttle body
- Modified mass airflow sensor (removed screens and heat sinc fins)
- Custom computer chip (Jim Formato - Tampa)
- Stock 85 vette 26 lb. fuel injectors (only 85's came with 26 lb injectors, 86-91 came with 22's)
- Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (on 45 lbs.)
- Underdrive pulley
- Jacobs spark plug wires
- K&N air filter
- Modified air filter lid
- TPIS 1 3/4" headers
- Gutted catalytic converter
- Borla Mufflers
- Lockup torque converter switch for drag racing only
- Stock 89 700R4 w/ stock 85 torque converter
- Stock rear axle w/ original 3.07 gears
- Stock ignition
- M&H Racemaster tires for drag racing only (provides 1.53 0-60 ft. times)
- NO nitrous, no blower, just engine!
My other car which I have been working on lately is a 92 LT-1 Z07 car which
ran a 13.95 bone stock. With the following mods it has run a best of 12.70 @
108:
- 52mm throttle body
- Air foil modified to fit 52mm throttle body
- K&N air filter
- Modified air filter lid
- Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (doesn't seem to make any difference where you set it)
- Crane 1.6 ratio full roller rocker arms (same as on LT-4, these work! , highly recommended)
- Custom computer chip to raise rev limitter to 6400RPM (Jim Formato - Tampa)
- SLP torque converter (a must for LT-1's)
- B&M transmission governor spring & weight kit (to raise shift points to 1/2 6300, 2/3 6100, only $20)
- Gutted catalytic converters
- Borla mufflers
- Stock rear axle with 3.07 gears
Notes for LT-1 owners:
- DO NOT waste your money on a Hypertech power programmer (94-96), they slow your car down .20 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
- DO NOT waste your money on a Jet computer module, they slow your car down .25 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
- ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!!!!! remove the screens from the digital mass air flow sensors in the 94-96 cars. This will slow your car down .20 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
- LT-1's love to be run COLD. My car runs best at an unbelievable 100 degrees!
