I have two corvettes - 1st, a 85 which ran a bone stock 1/4 mile of 14.77. I've had this car for 9 years now and now runs the 1/4 mile in 11.34 @119 with the following modifications:

  1. John Lingenfelter 383 engine - 450 HP
  2. Lingenfelter 219/525 camshaft
  3. 1.6 ratio Competition Cams Magnum roller rocker arms (provides an effective lift of 560)
  4. Accel intake manifold
  5. Arizona Speed and Marine large tube runners
  6. Ported Plenum
  7. 52 mm throttle body (did not go faster w/ 58mm throttle body so kept it looking stock w/ the 52)
  8. Air foil modified to fit 52mm throttle body
  9. Modified mass airflow sensor (removed screens and heat sinc fins)
  10. Custom computer chip (Jim Formato - Tampa)
  11. Stock 85 vette 26 lb. fuel injectors (only 85's came with 26 lb injectors, 86-91 came with 22's)
  12. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (on 45 lbs.)
  13. Underdrive pulley
  14. Jacobs spark plug wires
  15. K&N air filter
  16. Modified air filter lid
  17. TPIS 1 3/4" headers
  18. Gutted catalytic converter
  19. Borla Mufflers
  20. Lockup torque converter switch for drag racing only
  21. Stock 89 700R4 w/ stock 85 torque converter
  22. Stock rear axle w/ original 3.07 gears
  23. Stock ignition
  24. M&H Racemaster tires for drag racing only (provides 1.53 0-60 ft. times)
  25. NO nitrous, no blower, just engine!

My other car which I have been working on lately is a 92 LT-1 Z07 car which ran a 13.95 bone stock. With the following mods it has run a best of 12.70 @ 108:

  1. 52mm throttle body
  2. Air foil modified to fit 52mm throttle body
  3. K&N air filter
  4. Modified air filter lid
  5. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (doesn't seem to make any difference where you set it)
  6. Crane 1.6 ratio full roller rocker arms (same as on LT-4, these work! , highly recommended)
  7. Custom computer chip to raise rev limitter to 6400RPM (Jim Formato - Tampa)
  8. SLP torque converter (a must for LT-1's)
  9. B&M transmission governor spring & weight kit (to raise shift points to 1/2 6300, 2/3 6100, only $20)
  10. Gutted catalytic converters
  11. Borla mufflers
  12. Stock rear axle with 3.07 gears

Notes for LT-1 owners:

  1. DO NOT waste your money on a Hypertech power programmer (94-96), they slow your car down .20 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
  2. DO NOT waste your money on a Jet computer module, they slow your car down .25 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
  3. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!!!!! remove the screens from the digital mass air flow sensors in the 94-96 cars. This will slow your car down .20 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
  4. LT-1's love to be run COLD. My car runs best at an unbelievable 100 degrees!
